CLUB RULES
YOUR MEMBERSHIP INCLUDES:
Junior players, 16 years or older, wishing senior playing privileges (evening hours), may apply for Student membership by paying the appropriate fee.
Each member may invite a guest up to (2) two times per season for a $10 fee. One guest at a time. Members are responsible for and must accompany their guests. Guests must agree to the Club's Code of Conduct and Etiquette while using the facilities in accordance with club rules and release the club and its directors from all claims for injury or damage arising from their participation. Guests limited to 2 visits regardless of who invites them.
Membership in the club is not transferable and non-refundable.
Members make use of the facilities at their own risk. Membership cannot be accepted without providing a waiver by an adult family member or parent on behalf of a junior. When you apply for membership in the Sheridan Tennis Club, you agree to abide by the club rules and release the Sheridan Tennis Club and its directors from all claims for injury or damage arising from participation of the applicant(s) during any activity on the club's courts.
TENNIS AND PICKLEBALL ETIQUETTE
In addition to court rules, it is also important to be mindful of court etiquette, a set of unofficial rules that signify good sportsmanship.
Tennis & Pickleball are a social game, a game involving simple politeness and consideration. Everyone will enjoy the game so much more if these guidelines are observed.
PLAYING TIMES
Courts are booked on-line and have priority over members who might be waiting. Members who have booked a court have 10minutes to claim their court otherwise the court is available to whomever is using it. They can wait for the next available court or book a court via their smart phone. Please check the booking system for court availability.

- Talk quietly when standing near tennis courts that are in play.
- Never walk behind a court when a point is still in play. Wait until the point is over and then cross as fast as possible.
- If people are already on your court, don’t disturb them until their time is up.
- Always come prepared. Bring not only balls, but towels and water to drink when it is hot.
- Wear non marking shoes
- When you’re ready to play, put racquet and paddle covers, ball cans, jackets etc., out of everyone’s way.
- When sending balls back to a neighbouring court, send over to the back of the court. Never send them back while play is in progress.
- Offer to bring new balls or organize a system to decide who brings the balls.
- Retrieve balls for your partner and your opponent.
- Don’t criticize your partner, offer encouragement.
- Call your own lines and let your opponent hear the call.
- Always respect the line calls of your opponent.
- If there is a disagreement, offer to replay the point.
PLAYING TIMES
- Hours of play for TENNIS are from 7:00 a.m.to 11:00 p.m. daily from April through to October.
- Hours of play for PICKLEBALL are from 8am to 10pm daily from April through to October
- Please turn lights off when courts are not in use to save cost and energy.
- Adult members have priority after 6:00 p.m. Junior members may play after 6:00, if accompanied by an adult player or if there are no adults waiting.
- Lessons, social events, and interclub matches approved by the Executive take priority for court use. Interclub matches require the use of all four courts, except for Thursday's Over 55 league. Schedules to be posted.
